In a total area of 6,952 hectares, researchers have found what appears to be one of the most interesting places for plant biodiversity on the planet. Inside Lambir Hills many waterfalls and bathing pools are scattered throughout the lowland Dipterocarp forest and heath forest. The unique topography and environment have made Lambir a major centre for rainforest research, with scientists from Japanese and American universities permanently stationed in the park.
